Abstract

The progressive ageing of the labor force and the delay in the retirement age claims for actions in favor of healthy and inclusive workplaces, taking into account the characteristics of older workers. The quality of ageing at the workplace has been analyzed at European level using a novel instrument, the Quality of Ageing at Work questionnaire (QAW-q). This tool, based on key elements of the Work Ability concept, expands its perspective by introducing factors related to intraorganizational dimensions and includes weighting the influence of age on individual perceptions of the quality of the work environment. This article presents this tool as an instrument to evaluate the quality of aging in employment to highlight the elements of improvement and achieve an efficient management of aging workforce.
