Abstract
It is studied the development of the associations and local organizations in Spain asinstrument through as the citizens could participate in the management of public subjects
of local environment that affected to them more directly. The local associationism of that
period is studied inside the urban popular movements that appear as answer to the
existing social conflict in the city and as answer to the failure and lack of
representativeness of the local institutions. Nowadays the local associationism is quite
developed in spite of to have diminished the demandding intensity that it had during those
years.
